“Great artists are people who find the way to be themselves in their art.” -Margot Fonteyn

Our BeSolu Mindset has four main elements: trust your training, harness your strength, spread positivity, and be yourself. This quote from Margot Fonteyn speaks to the element of our mindset that reminds you to “be yourself.” Every dancer and person in the world has a unique personality and set of talents, and this individuality is what shines through and makes you who you are. Think about how uninteresting a performance would be if everyone on stage danced in exactly the same way!

It’s easy to get stuck constantly comparing yourself to others, especially when they have strengths you admire that are different than yours. Instead of this comparison being a negative feeling, notice the incredible opportunity of having people around you to look up to who inspire you to keep improving. Remember you have your own individual set of strengths as well. You have so many gifts that are unique to you- and every day is a new opportunity to share them with the world! Instead of trying to blend in with everyone around you by hiding the personality and strengths that make you who you are, remember that you can inspire others just by being true to yourself each day.

Being an artist means being able to express yourself through your dancing. Those around you will recognize your individuality and how you are able to incorporate that into class and rehearsal. Dancing isn’t just about steps, so never forget to be YOU in everything you do!
